Jessie Buckley approaches red carpet fashion with the same adventurous spirit she brings to acting. The Irish performer rarely appears committed to one particular silhouette, designer or beauty formula, moving comfortably between romantic gowns, dramatic monochrome looks and playful bursts of color. Her changing hairstyles have become part of that experimentation too. From Wild Rose to The Lost Daughter and Women Talking, major moments in her screen career have been accompanied by equally distinctive fashion choices. The result is a wardrobe that feels expressive rather than carefully predictable.

At the 2018 London Film Festival premiere of Wild Rose, Buckley embraced classic glamour in a shimmering floral gown with an off the shoulder neckline. Her hair was swept into a neat bun, allowing delicate gold jewelry to complete the look. A year later, she shifted toward something darker at a BAFTA after party, wearing a tiered black and silver ensemble with a small midriff cutout and loose hair.

While promoting Judy in 2019, Buckley explored a different side of her wardrobe. In Los Angeles, she chose a white Tory Burch outfit influenced by menswear, with colorful buttons adding personality to the clean palette. She remained with white for the London premiere, selecting a relaxed silhouette that became even more memorable when rainy weather introduced a rainbow umbrella to the photographs.

Black dominated several appearances that followed. At the 2020 Critics Choice Awards, Buckley wore Valentino separates with a sheer top and an oversized bow at the neck. For the BAFTAs, she chose a feathered Miu Miu design and paired it with a sharply structured hairstyle, turning her beauty styling into part of the overall fashion statement.

The Lost Daughter brought Buckley back to the London Film Festival in a dark Christopher Kane look. Her performance as the younger version of Olivia Colman’s character would later earn her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. At the Oscars, Buckley arrived with lighter hair and an Erdem gown featuring delicate embellishment and a short train.

Color became much more prominent while she promoted Women Talking. At the London Film Festival, she wore a vivid Vivienne Westwood creation with a harlequin inspired pattern. During the 2023 awards season, she changed direction again with a shimmering gold Dior design at the SAG Awards before embracing a darker black and purple Rodarte look for the Oscars.

By the 2024 premiere of Wicked Little Letters, Buckley had transformed once more. With blonde hair, she selected a strapless Simone Rocha dress that combined romance with the slightly unconventional quality often found in her fashion choices.

Buckley’s style works because it leaves room for surprise. Instead of developing one rigid red carpet uniform, she treats fashion as another creative space for experimentation, ensuring that each appearance can reveal something different.
