Top Classics has built its reputation around collectible automobiles, but not every remarkable car in its collection requires a complete restoration. One particularly unusual example is a LaFerrari, the hybrid hypercar created during one of the most ambitious periods in Ferrari’s modern history. While the company regularly works with older machines such as the Ferrari F40, F50 and Enzo, this LaFerrari represents something different. Its appeal comes largely from its originality and unusual factory specification. Most striking of all is a distinctive color that was reportedly created specifically for its original owner.

Introduced in 2013, LaFerrari represented a major technological step for the Italian manufacturer. Ferrari produced just 499 examples of the coupe for customers, making availability extremely limited from the beginning. The car combined a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V12 with an electric motor and hybrid technology derived partly from Ferrari’s motorsport experience. Together, the system produced 963 metric horsepower, giving LaFerrari performance that placed it among the defining hypercars of its generation.

Christophe Brucker of Top Classics explained that the example in the company’s possession was originally purchased in 2015. Unlike a neglected vintage Ferrari requiring extensive reconstruction, this car did not need to be transformed by Top Classics. Its unusual finish was commissioned through Ferrari for the original client and applied at the factory, making preservation particularly important.

That distinction illustrates one of the challenges of dealing with highly collectible modern cars. Restoration is not always about making something look new. Original specifications, rare factory options and documented provenance can form an important part of a vehicle’s identity. Changing those elements unnecessarily could remove some of the qualities that make the car special.

Maintenance can still be complicated. Brucker noted that sourcing components for hypercars is considerably more difficult than working with many conventional vehicles. Specialized parts may have limited availability, and support from the original manufacturer can become essential. Top Classics therefore works with Ferrari when necessary to locate components and maintain cars correctly.

The company also focuses on earlier Ferrari halo models such as the Enzo, F40 and F50. These machines present their own mechanical challenges, but their technologies are generally less complex than the hybrid systems found in LaFerrari. Each generation therefore requires a different approach to preservation and maintenance.

For collectors, this rare LaFerrari demonstrates how the meaning of automotive preservation continues to evolve. A classic may require rebuilding from the ground up, while a modern hypercar can demand careful protection of its original specification. In both cases, the goal is similar, preserving the engineering, history and individuality that make an exceptional automobile worth keeping.
