Chris Hemsworth may be best known for wielding Thor’s hammer on screen, but his red carpet wardrobe has developed a recognizable identity of its own. The Australian actor regularly relies on classic tailoring while finding small ways to make formalwear feel less traditional. Open collars, layered waistcoats, unusual colors and occasional statement patterns have become recurring elements of his style. Over the years, labels including Dolce & Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Etro and Tom Ford have helped shape that approach. The result is menswear that remains polished without appearing overly formal.

Earlier in his career, Hemsworth frequently turned to Dolce & Gabbana for premieres. For Thor: The Dark World, he embraced brown tailoring, while the Blackhat promotional circuit brought a cooler blue gray palette. At a Guardians of the Galaxy event, he removed the jacket and relied on a waistcoat, demonstrating an early preference for making traditional suits feel more relaxed.

His award season appearances have shown another side of that style. At the 2017 Golden Globes, Hemsworth attended with his wife, Elsa Pataky, wearing a classic Hugo Boss tuxedo. A year later, he experimented with more texture in a paisley brocade Etro ensemble. Rather than always finishing suits with a tie, Hemsworth increasingly adopted open neck shirts, a styling choice that later appeared during premieres for Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and Men in Black: International.

By the time Thor: Love and Thunder arrived in 2022, the formula had become familiar. Hemsworth appeared in blue tailoring with an open collar, combining the structure of a suit with a noticeably easier attitude. That balance between formal and relaxed has remained central to his wardrobe.

Tom Ford became particularly prominent in Hemsworth’s 2024 appearances. At the Academy Awards, he wore a dark formal look while attending alongside Pataky. He then made his Met Gala debut as one of the event’s co-chairs, choosing an ivory Tom Ford three piece suit with an open shirt. The lighter palette provided a distinctive alternative to conventional black eveningwear.

During the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga promotional tour, Hemsworth continued experimenting with tailored looks. At Cannes, he kept his outfit relaxed without a traditional tie, while the London premiere brought another Tom Ford three piece ensemble, this time finished with contrasting white boots.

His later Limitless appearance in London demonstrated how layering could refresh the same basic formula. A black shirt sat beneath a white waistcoat, with a blue jacket and matching trousers completing the outfit.

Hemsworth’s red carpet style works because it rarely tries to reinvent menswear completely. Instead, he adjusts familiar tailoring through color, texture, layering and an open collar. Those recurring details have gradually become a signature, proving that formal dressing can feel distinctive without becoming complicated.
