Alex Wolff is an actor, musician, and one half of the sibling duo Nat and Alex Wolff, but when asked to choose between acting and music, he has a very tongue-in-cheek response: caretaking for dogs. Born Alexander Draper Wolff in New York, he grew up surrounded by creativity. His mother, actress and filmmaker Polly Draper, and his father, jazz pianist Michael Wolff, gave both Alex and his brother Nat the foundation for artistic careers from a very young age. At just six years old, Alex appeared alongside his brother in The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie, which his mother wrote and directed. That project eventually evolved into a Nickelodeon series, where Alex not only acted but also wrote lyrics, sang, and played instruments, while his father oversaw the music production. The show was short-lived, but it propelled the brothers into the spotlight.
After the series ended, Alex turned his attention to more film and television roles. He appeared in In Treatment, The Sitter, and starred opposite Brendan Fraser in HairBrained. Bigger opportunities followed, with roles in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 and Patriots Day. Despite his busy acting schedule, Alex never gave up on music. With Nat, he released the album Black Sheep in 2010 and later followed it with an EP, plus a string of singles. The two brothers even share an Instagram account, where, according to Alex, they post casually and for fun, showing that their creative partnership remains strong.
In 2020, Wolff took on one of his most challenging roles in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller Old, playing a character trapped on a mysterious beach that accelerates aging. He described the experience of reading the script as surreal, almost like a fever dream, and said his performance was meant to channel subconscious fears rather than a straightforward realism. His process reflected his instinct to treat the film as a psychological expression rather than a literal narrative, something he felt fortunate to do under Shyamalan’s direction.
Beyond film and music, Alex has also embraced fashion as another form of self-expression. He has worn bold Valentino suits on the red carpet, admitting he never thought he could pull off such looks but felt incredible wearing them. At the same time, he laughs about his more casual choices, which his friends sometimes tease as “musician chic.” Whether dressed to impress or experimenting with relaxed styles, Wolff enjoys finding ways to express himself through clothing.
Having grown up in the public eye and worked steadily across music, television, and film, Alex Wolff has already built an impressive career. With his talent, humor, and versatility, it’s clear he’s here to stay.
